About 16 European dignitaries in four groups from Europe will attend the Oct. 10 Republic of China Double Ten National Day celebrations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said Thursday.
Four delegations composed of representatives from the European Union, as well as parliamentarians and dignitaries from Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany and Portugal, among others, have confirmed that they will visit Taiwan to attend the celebrations.
More than 300 foreign dignitaries from around the world will attend the celebrations to mark the National Day, according to the MOFA.
Since September, several groups of foreign dignitaries from Europe have visited Taiwan to pormote bilateral exchanges, including a French parliamentarian delegation led by Frederique Massat, chair of the French National Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs, and a delegation led by Daniel Caspary, the coordinator of the European People's Party (EPP) Group on the International Trade Committee (INTA) of the European Parliament.
In addition, a delegation led by Nigel Evans, head of the British-Taiwanese All-Party Parliamentary Group, and a delegation headed by Till Steffen, minister of justice of Hamburg, have also visited Taiwan, according to the MOFA.
