The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the training opening ceremony of 2019 International Youth Ambassador Exchange Program at International Conference Hall of Guishan Campus, Ming Chuang University at 11:00 on July 30 (Tuesday). The ceremony was hosted by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hsu Szuchien, and there were about 100 people attended the ceremony, including team leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Youth Ambassadors.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hsu Szuchien first congratulated 75 Youth Ambassadors, who passed multiple tests and were selected from among 1,100 competitors. The number of applicants was a historical high since the program was adjusted in compliance with the New Southbound Policy, and it indicates that the interest of young generation has increased in the international affairs in Southeast Asia and South Asia. The countries in Asia Pacific that have diplomatic relations with Taiwan and countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia are at the hub of IndoPacific region. Deputy Minister Hsu encouraged the Youth Ambassadors to utilize the intense 4week training classes to improve international vision and make ready for this visit, so that our friends in the international society may have better understanding of the viewpoints of Taiwans new generation and feel the passion and energy of our youngsters.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs planned a 4week intense training classes, which include inviting officials from countries to be visited in Taiwan to introduce an overview of the current political and economic situation in these countries as well as inviting officials and experts in Taiwan to give speeches and hold seminars. The design of the classes is plentiful and solid, which is beneficial for cultivating the required knowledge, background information and skills for Youth Ambassadors in this visit.
