Taipei, Taiwan's badminton world number one Tai Tzu-ying (???) advanced to the women's singles badminton final at the 2018 Asian Games Monday after beating India's Saina Nehwal for the 10th straight time in the seminfinals.
Tai won the hard-fought 21-17, 21-14 match against world No. 10 and Olympic medalist Saina in 36 minutes.
This is the first time a Taiwanese women's singles shuttler has headed for a gold medal showdown at any Asian Games.
Tai's victory marked her best performance at an Asian Games. She is the bronze medal holder of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games women's singles.
In the women's team competition, Taiwan was ousted by Thailand in the quarterfinals last week, despite the presence of Tai.
