ASUS remains most valuable Taiwanese brand in 2016: survey

ASUS (華碩), Taiwan’s leading personal computer maker, retained its No. 1 position for the fourth consecutive year in a survey that lists the top 20 international brands from Taiwan for 2016 by market value, according to the results of a survey released Tuesday by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

The company kept its position with a brand value of US$1.75 billion, a decline of 2 percent from 2015.

ASUS is followed in the rankings by TrendMicro (趨勢科技), a global leader in cloud security, and Want Want Holdings Ltd. (旺旺控股), a food manufacturer, which remained unchanged in second and third places, respectively.

CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd. (中國信託金控), which appeared among the top 20 brands for the first time, ranked fourth, while bicycle makers Giant Manufacturing Co. (巨大機械) came in fifth.

The total value of Taiwan’s top 20 brands reached US$9.24 billion in 2016, up 3.21 percent from last year, according to the survey.

The other companies that rounded out this year’s top 20 also included Advantech Co., Ltd. (研華科技), Acer Inc. (宏碁), Merida Industry Co. Ltd. (美麗達工業), MediaTek Inc. (聯發科), HTC Corp. (宏達國際), 85°C Bakery Café (Gourmet Master Co., Ltd.; 85度C), Maxxis (正新橡膠), Synnex Technology International Corp. (聯強國際), Chailease Holding Co., Ltd. (中租控股), Delta Electronics Inc. (台達電子), Uni-President (統一企業), Johnson Health Tech (喬山健康), Transcend Information Inc. (創見資訊), Chlitina (克麗緹娜) and ZyXEL Communications Corp. (合勤科技).

Commissioned by the Industrial Development Bureau under the MOEA, the U.K.-based brand consultancy firm Interband conducted the 2016 Best Taiwan Global Brands survey.
