A China Airlines (CAL) plane has made an emergency landing in Wake Island in the western Pacific after pilots detected a potential abnormality with its engine, the company said Monday.
All 143 passengers and 12 crew members aboard the A330-300 were safe, according to CAL.
Flight CI017, which departed from Honolulu at 11:44 a.m. Sunday, was on its way to Taipei via Tokyo when a signal indicated a problem with the engine, the company said.
To be safe, the captain made an emergency landing in Wake Island, it said.
A plane will depart from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport at 10:30 p.m. Monday to transport the passengers and crew members from Wake Island, CAL said.
