Taipei--People who want to celebrate the Lantern Festival Saturday should bundle up as the cold spell has kept temperatures low across Taiwan.
According to the Central Weather Bureau, lows on Saturday are hovering around 8 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 11 degrees in central Taiwan, and 12 degrees in southern and eastern Taiwan, some of the coldest temperatures seen so far this winter.
With generally cloudy skies, highs would hit only 15 degrees in northern Taiwan, 18 degrees in central and eastern Taiwan, and 20 degrees in the south, according to the Bureau.
Similar weather could continue into Monday, followed by much more moderate temperatures through to at least Friday, the bureau said.
Also this Saturday, air quality is low in several areas in central and southern Taiwan, according to the Environmental Protection Administration (EPA).
Regions under the most impact are Yunlin, Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung, it said.
