Several days of hot weather in Taiwan are expected to end starting this weekend as northeasterly winds strengthen, the Central Weather Bureau said Thursday.
The change will be the most noticeable in Taipei and New Taipei, where maximum temperatures during daytime on Saturday and Sunday will drop to 25 degrees Celsius, 9 degrees lower than during the last few days, the bureau said.
For the rest of Taiwan, daytime highs will fall by 7 degrees in Keelung and Taoyuan, 3-4 degrees in other regions in the north, and 1-2 degrees in the center and south, according to the bureau.
Wu Der-rong (???), a meteorologist and adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, forecast that even stronger northeasterly winds will affect Taiwan from next Tuesday to Thursday, when the lowest temperatures in northern Taiwan are expected to drop to below 20 degrees for the first time since autumn began.
