London, A delegation led by Deputy Science Minister Su Fong-chin (???) visited Ireland recently to establish official contact with the country's top science research institute.
The delegation visited Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), which is responsible for funding basic and applied research in science and technology in Ireland, during their first stop in Dublin on July 6, according to a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement.
During the trip, Su briefed SFI on industry-academia research cooperation in Taiwan, its high ranking in international competitiveness, and its strategies and goals in international cooperation.
Michael Ryan, SFI's head of international activities, expressed interest in Taiwan's "5 plus 2" industrial innovation program proposed by President Tsai Ing-wen's (???) administration to strengthen the country's industrial base, the statement said.
Ryan said he looked forward to further cooperation with Taiwan, according to the statement.
The delegation also visited London and Brussels during its trip to Europe from June 30 to July 8.
