Taipei-- The Taipei Zoo on Wednesday asked visitors not to throw objects at the false gharials it keeps after finding that the animals have been disturbed frequently lately.
While the reptiles tend to remain motionless in cold weather to conserve heat, quite a few visitors have been trying to make them move by tossing objects such as PET bottles and coins at them, said Zoo spokesman Tsao Hsien-shao (???).
These attacks distress the false gharials, he said, adding that the zoo has installed a billboard near their enclosure reading "Please feel for others," on which a cartoon also shows a crocodile throwing objects at a human being.
