Former Legislative Speaker Liu Sung-fan dies at 84

Former Legislative Speaker Liu Sung-fan (劉松藩) died on Nov. 18 overseas, he was 84, his younger brother Liu Sung-ling (劉松齡) revealed on Wednesday.

Liu was born in Taichung in December 1931 and served as legislative speaker from 1992 to 1999.

Liu was found guilty of breach of trust in a loan case in September 2004 while in the United States and never returned to Taiwan.

He was living in mainland China when he died, according to local media outlets.

The Liu family will publish a notice in local newspapers, according to Liu Sung-ling.
