Taipei--Weather around Taiwan for the next week is expected to be highly unstable, with some turbulent conditions including thunder, strong gusts in addition to heavy downpours, the Central Weather Bureau said Tuesday.
There are expected to be some afternoon thundershowers and occasionally heavy rain Tuesday afternoon but the rainy pattern will likely become more prominent Thursday because of the combined effect of a stationary front of the current plum rain season and a moist southwestern air current, the bureau said.
The stationary front is expected to cover all of Taiwan, making for wet conditions around the country with chances of heavy to torrential rain, especially on Thursday and Friday, it said.
The bureau urged the public to refrain from activities in mountainous areas or close to rivers and to pay special attention to the latest weather forecast.
The rainy weather will last until June 5 and temperatures from Friday will stay below 30 degrees Celsius, the bureau said.
