Taipei--The weather front that has brought abundant rain to all areas of Taiwan was moving south Thursday, with the Central Weather Bureau issuing a heavy rain warning for nine cities and counties to the south of Taichung City.
The weather bureau said that rain would continue to fall in southern and eastern Taiwan and the mountainous areas around the island Thursday while most parts of central and northern Taiwan could expect only sporadic showers.
There will likely be chances of more rain in the days to come until the weather gets better around the Dragon Boat Festival on Tuesday, May 30, the bureau said.
With heavy cloud cover, highs would reach only around 26 degrees Celsius in the north Thursday, 28 to 29 degrees in central and southern Taiwan and 25 to 27 degrees in the east, it said.
