Inscription tablets to be introduced at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

Taipei, National Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taipei is to hold an official ceremony to introduce recently installed Chinese Calligraphy inscription tablets as part of activities to celebrate the 46th anniversary of the memorial hall Wednesday, according to a press release.

In the future, visitors will be encouraged to make rubbings of phrases in Chinese associated with history and culture or the Chinese characters representing the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, inscribed onto 10 stone tablet fixtures.

The inscriptions include "World for the mankind" and "Philanthropy" which appear in the texts and teachings of Sun Yat-sen, founding father of the Republic of China.

Other inscriptions include the phrase "Seeing only wind and rain my heart lies heavy yet determined to offer everything for my home" by early Republican Era calligrapher, scholar and politician Yu Youren (???, 1879-1964).

At the ceremony, indigenous children from New Taipei Municipal Wulai Elementary and Junior High School will be invited to make rubbings from the tablets. On the day of the anniversary art and photo exhibitions will also be held throughout the memorial hall, promotional materials for the anniversary event indicate.
