Taipei--A tropical depression in the waters off the Philippines is gaining strength and could develop into the ninth tropical storm of the season -- Nesat -- as soon as Wednesday afternoon, the Central Weather Bureau said.
However, it remains unclear whether it will impact Taiwan, the bureau added.
Whether Nesat affects Taiwan will depend on its development and course over the next two days, the bureau said.
Regardless of whether the tropical storm forms, changeable weather is forecast for Friday to Sunday, according to the bureau.
