Taipei-Power outage hit greater Taipei, Taichung, Tainan, and Miaoli, Nantou and Chiayi counties around 5 p.m. Tuesday, due to human errors in a power plant in Taoyuan.
An operation technical error in Tatan Power Plant in Taoyuan's Guanyin District at 4:52 p.m. caused six generators to stop working, affecting the supply of 4 million kilowatts of electricity. The plant is Taiwan's biggest natural gas power plant.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, which is responsible for power supply, was holding a press conference at 6:30 p.m. to explain the details.
Following the power supply disruption, power rationing was implemented beginning at 6:00 p.m. and officials expected supply to return to normal at 9:00 p.m.
