President Tsai Ing-wen has called on China to find a new model for cross-strait interaction. She was speaking during a recent interview with the United Daily News.
Presidential Office spokesperson Sidney Lin spoke on Wednesday about Tsai's recent mention of facing new realities, new consultations, and new models in cross-strait relations.
"We need to think of a new model to develop peaceful and stable cross-strait relations that will contribute to regional peace and prosperity," Lin said.
But the Chinese media has said that Tsai's remarks were just a new way of packaging old ideas. When reporters asked Lin about China's response, he said the presidential office didn't want to make any comment.
