President Tsai Ing-wen says she hopes that Taiwan can continue to strengthen ties with Central American nation of Honduras. She was speaking Monday while meeting with Honduran National Congress President Mauricio Oliva Hererra and his wife.
Tsai said she is looking forward to congressional exchanges, in particular. She said Taiwanese business groups have also made several trips to Honduras this year to strengthen trade ties.
We are actively working to pave the way for the import of Honduran agricultural products such as beef and sweet melons," said Tsai.
"We look forward to the day when these products can enter the market,"she said. "In the future, our government will continue encouraging the business sector to invest in Honduras, so that the government and private sectors of Taiwan and Honduras can join forces to work toward mutually beneficial development."
The president also thanked Honduras for its continued support of Taiwan's bid to join international organizations under the UN framework.
