Stamp Expo: Celebrities take part in auction to honor Charity Day

Celebrities donated stamp collections and creative postal service design works to a charity auction at the PHILATAIPEI 2016 World Stamp Championship Exhibition on Monday, on the fourth day of the expo.

Celebrities, including Meggie Yu (??), Candy Wang (???), Lin Yu-pin (??) and How Yao (???) shared stories about collecting stamps and donated their collections to be auctioned.

Action figures colored by the celebrities were also given out. These were based on the mascots of Chunghwa Post, organizer of this year's exhibition, which is being held in Taiwan for the first time and coincides with the company's 120th anniversary.

Yu's collection was won with a bid of NT$2,500 (US$79) by Tsai

Hsueh-ying (???) who came to the event with colleagues.

The 56-year-old bid four times in an enthusiastic crowd to get an autographed donated collection.

Tsai said although she is not really into philately or a big fan of Yu, she felt the event was important.

"I think it is good for everyone to get involved in events like this," Tsai said.

The show, which runs until Oct. 26 at Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1, showcases 2,450 philately items shown by exhibitors from 80 countries and areas around the world.
