A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred off the coast of Taitung County in southeastern Taiwan at 9:57 am on Sunday.
The Central Weather Bureau says the temblor struck at a depth of 96 kilometers, and was located 163.7 km southeast of the Taitung County government building.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries.
The earthquake had an intensity of four in Taitung County's Orchid Island. That's out of a total of seven on Taiwan's intensity scale.
An intensity of three was detected in parts of Pingtung, Tainan and Chiayi, all in southern Taiwan.
