Taipei--The weather in Taiwan was warm, humid and mostly cloudy in Taiwan on Monday, with daytime highs expected to soar past 30 degrees Celsius, the Central Weather Bureau said.
With the winds now coming from the south, warmer morning and night time temperatures can be expected, the bureau said.
The average daytime temperature was forecast at around 30 degrees, but was expected to reach 33-34 degrees in the Taipei Basin and in central and southern areas of the country, the bureau said.
People going outdoors are advised to stay hydrated by drinking lots of water and take precautions against sunburn, the bureau said.
It forecast sporadic afternoon thundershowers in mountainous areas, in the northern half of the country and in eastern Taiwan.
There is also a chance of rain in southeastern Taiwan, the bureau said.
Meanwhile, Wu Der-rong (???), an adjunct associate professor of atmospheric sciences at National Central University, forecast in his online weather column that the warm and humid weather in Taiwan will last until Saturday.
As a weak frontal system approaches, the volume of clouds will increase in the north and the east on Tuesday, bringing occasional showers or thundershowers to those areas, Wu predicted.
From Wednesday to Saturday, it will be mostly cloudy with afternoon showers or thundershowers in mountainous areas, he said.
