Taiwanese tennis star Chan Yung-jan is the top ranked doubles player in the WTA rankings and half of the duo named this year's women's doubles world champions by the ITF. On Monday, she attended an event at which she said she was happy to have reached her goal of being named this year's world champion. However, she also said there is a long way to go in the future, and that she will continue working hard in the hopes of keeping up her good performance.
Chan appeared Monday a press conference sponsored by Taiwan Mobile. She welcomed tennis player Jason Jung and golfer Hsu Wei-ling- two Taiwanese stars at this year's summer Universiade games- to join the ranks of athletes sponsored by Taiwan Mobile.
Chan smiled through the entire event, and in 2017, the tennis player has had much to be happy about. She and Swiss doubles partner Martina Hingis won nine championships this year, including the US Open.
Three years ago, Chan was in 37th place on the rankings table for women's doubles. Chan said she was happy with her achievement making it to the top, but added there is more work to do. With the announcement of Hingis' retirement, Chan also announced that her new partner will be Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic.
