Taipei, A new option that allows travelers to pick up high speed train tickets at convenience stores nationwide is available through the existing mobile-based "T Express" app from Thursday, Taiwan High Speed Rail (THSR) Corporation announced that day.
T Express, THSR's official booking system for mobile phones, was first launched in 2011.
The new feature enables high-speed rail passengers to make online reservations using a mobile phone, instead of having to wait in line at a ticket counter, or go through the hassle of operating an automated ticket machine, the company said.
Users can now use the barcode they receive after making an online booking via T Express to pay at a convenience store while picking up their tickets at the same time.
However, the service is currently only available at 7-Eleven stores, the THSR said, adding that other partnering chains will be announced at a later date.
Users making ticket reservations for seniors, children or the disabled via T Express will still be required to provide proof of identity when picking up tickets and on board the train, it said.
