President Tsai Ing-wen has congratulated retired Taiwanese golfer Tu Ai-yu on her induction into the Japanese Golf Hall of Fame.
Tu, now 62, is one of Taiwan's most successful professional golfers. She won 69 times on the LGPA of Japan Tour between 1974 and 2002, and was the leading prize winner seven times. She was recently inducted into the Japanese Golf Hall of Fame, the first Taiwanese female golfer to receive the honor.
Tsai met Tu and her husband at the Presidential Office on Friday. The president said she has long been one of Tu's loyal fans. Tsai said she hopes Tu's career will inspire more young women and men in Taiwan to work hard and chase their dreams.
