Washington-The recent removal of Taiwan's national flag from the official website of the United States' military efforts against the Islamic State was due to a technical issue, the operation's public affairs office said Sunday.
"We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR) page," the public affairs office said in an e-mail response to questions by Taiwan media.
It said Taiwan has not been removed from the webpage of the Global Coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), or Daesh as it is also called.
"Some of the contributing nations' flags do not appear under the 'Coalition' link," the OIR Public Affairs Office Press Desk said. "We are rectifying this, and specifically ensuring that the Taiwanese flag appears on that page."
It also attached a screen shot and a link to the site, showing the Taiwan flag.
"Taiwan continues to be an important part of the Coalition," the office said.
The removal of Taiwan flag from the OIR website was noticed after the flag was removed from the official websites of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs and the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
