Weather to turn cold over weekend: CWB

Taipei, Despite high temperatures across Taiwan Thursday, the weather will change noticeably from Friday with the arrival of a cold air mass expected over the weekend, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Thursday.

On Thursday, daytime highs across Taiwan could hit 31 degrees Celsius, with mountainous areas in the greater Taipei area and those south of Taoyuan forecast to see brief showers in the afternoon, the bureau said, adding that there will be sporadic rainfall in eastern Taiwan for the whole day.

The weather will begin to turn cooler Friday afternoon, with the mercury expected to drop to a low of 13 degrees in regions north of Taichung and northeastern Taiwan from Saturday night to Sunday morning due to the effects of the approaching front and cold air mass.

On Sunday, temperatures will start to rise during the day, with sunny or cloudy skies forecast across the country, the bureau said.
