Taipei: The Taipei Aerospace and Defense Exhibition commenced on Thursday, drawing attention with the display of 51 new military systems, prominently featuring the M1A2T Abrams tank and the HIMARS multiple rocket launcher.
According to Focus Taiwan, the biennial event, which will continue until Saturday at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, has attracted participation from over 400 companies representing 14 countries. This marks the largest assembly of exhibitors in the event’s history, as stated by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) on Wednesday.
The ministry’s pavilion at the expo is organized into four distinct sections: joint operations weapons, unmanned systems, dual-use technologies, and talent recruitment. The displays encompass a variety of formats, including hardware, models, multimedia exhibits, and interactive simulators. These are complemented by guided tours designed to enhance public comprehension of Taiwan’s defense capabilities.
The joint operations section is particularly noteworthy, showcasing 20 new systems such as the M1A2T tank, the HIMARS rocket system, the Chiang Kong missile, and the TOW 2B anti-tank system installed on Humvees. Additionally, models of the Brave Eagle trainer jet and a light frigate are on display. Collectively, these exhibits underscore Taiwan’s strategy of multi-domain deterrence, according to the MND.
