Army hosts forum on int’l logistics forum with ASEAN members, U.S., others

The Army said Friday it is holding an international forum on logistics cooperation this week with some members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the United States and other friendly countries. The five-day forum began Tuesday at the Army Logistics Command in Daejeon, some 140 kilometers south of Seoul, joined by Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and three other ASEAN members, as well as nine other countries, including Australia, it said. The Army said it plans to hold discussions on South Korea's Indo-Pacific strategy, ongoing efforts to cooperate with ASEAN members in the defense sector and ways to develop international logistics cooperation at the gathering. The annual forum, which was launched in 2021 to foster multilateral logistics cooperation among the Army, members of ASEAN and other friendly countries, comes amid South Korea's push to become a major global defense exporter. ASEAN comprises Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Sing apore and Vietnam. Source: Yonhap News Agency
