A court has sentenced Suga of K-pop superband BTS to a fine of 15 million won (US$11,469) on charges of driving an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol, sources said Monday. Late at night on Aug. 6, police officers found Suga trying to get up after falling off his electric scooter under the influence of alcohol near his residence in the Hannam neighborhood of the Yongsan district. His blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.227 percent, far exceeding the 0.08 percent threshold, which is subject to the revocation of a driver's license. Prosecutors later summarily indicted him for drunk driving. Legal sources said that the Seoul Western District Court imposed a 15 million-won fine on the 31-year-old artist, whose legal name is Min Yoon-gi, last Friday, a sentence that is identical to the prosecutors' request. A summary indictment, used for minor offenses, requests the court to impose a fine or confiscation through an expedited process without a full trial. Suga can challenge the sentence by filing for a full trial within seven days of the court's decision. Source: Yonhap News Agency
