Villagers in Na Di District, Prachin Buri Province, have continued the tradition of eating taro for the 44th year. Villagers of Ban Dan Takua, Village No. 14, Nadi Subdistrict, Nadi District, Prachin Buri Province, gathered to find taro since September 22. They peeled it, washed it, sliced ??it into pieces, soaked it in salt water for 3-4 days, washed it, and soaked it for another 3-4 days. Then they put it in a sack, covered it with stones, squeezed out the taro water, and steamed it. They mixed it with grated coconut, sugar, and sesame seeds before eating it. Yesterday (October 6), Ban Dan Takua Temple continued the tradition of eating taro, made merit by offering rice and dried food to monks, and distributed taro to those who attended the event. Mr. Watcharaphon Sri-uan, the head of the Nadi Subdistrict Administrative Organization, said that taro can be eaten instead of rice. In ancient times, at the end of World War II, there was an epidemic and people were starving. One of the things in nature is taro, so the villagers went to dig it up to eat. There were both sticky rice taro and regular rice taro. The villagers here joined together to continue the tradition of offering rice and dry food to monks and making merit by eating taro, which is a traditional event that has been passed down since ancient times.
