Diminutive infielder comes up big to win Korean Series MVP award for Tigers

At 165 centimeters, Kim Sun-bin was one of the smallest players in this year's Korean Series. But the second baseman came up huge at the plate throughout the series against the Samsung Lions. He batted 10-for-17 with three doubles and a triple, and recording at least a hit all five games, as the Tigers captured the title with a 7-5 win in Game 5 on Monday night at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, 270 kilometers south of Seoul. Thanks to his red-hot bat, Kim was voted the Korean Series MVP. Kim earned 46 out of 99 votes cast by media, beating out teammate Kim Tae-gun by one vote. Kim received the new EV6 GT-line vehicle by Kia. Kim opened the series by going 1-for-2 with a triple, while drawing two walks and scoring a run. And he went on to record multiple hits in each of the next four games. In Game 2, Kim had two hits, including a double, and knocked in two runs. It was followed by another two-hit performance in Game 3. In Saturday's Game 4, he went 3-for-5, including two doubles, in the Tigers' 9-2 win. Two more hits came in the clinching Game 5, further cementing his MVP case. It wasn't just the high hit total: Kim often worked long at-bats, fouling off pitches or spitting on breaking balls out of the zone.
