Director Tsai Ming-liang Honored with Cinema Award in Prague.

Prague: Taiwan-based Malaysian film director Tsai Ming-liang was honored with an award Sunday from the Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague, according to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Prague. Tsai was awarded the AMU Golden Award for his contributions to cinema, marking a first for a director from Taiwan. David Cenek, head of the academy's Film and TV School, presented the award at a ceremony held at Prague's National Film Archive. According to Focus Taiwan, Tsai expressed his appreciation upon receiving the award, noting the cultural similarities between Taiwan and the Czech Republic, particularly in their rich film heritage. In collaboration with TECO, the academy's Film and TV School hosted screenings of Tsai's classic works, including "Goodbye, Dragon Inn," "The Wayward Cloud," "Days," and "Where." In addition to the AMU Golden Award, Tsai was also recognized with a Contribution to World Cinema award at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, held in the Czech city of Jihlava from October 25 to November 3. This accolade further highlights Tsai's impact on the global cinema landscape.
