Taipei: President of Guatemala Bernardo Ar©valo and First Lady Lucrecia Peinado arrived in Taiwan for a state visit.
According to Focus Taiwan, Ar©valo and his delegation touched down at Taoyuan International Airport at 4:55 p.m., where they were welcomed by Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung. In his address at the airport, Ar©valo expressed his pleasure at being in the Republic of China (Taiwan) and conveyed a message from the people of Guatemala focused on the desire to deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen mutual friendship.
Ar©valo emphasized that the visit marks a significant working relationship aimed at strengthening the bond between the two countries. He expressed optimism that this trip would herald a new chapter in bilateral cooperation. He also described the visit as the beginning of a strategic alliance dedicated to the well-being and future development of the people of the two nations.
According to Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ar©valo and the first lady are leading a delegation from June 4-8 at the invitation of the Taiwanese government. The 10-member delegation includes key officials such as Foreign Minister Carlos Ramiro Martnez and Minister of Economy Gabriela Garca. During his stay, Ar©valo is expected to meet with President Lai Ching-te.
