Taipei: Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA) on Sunday issued an extremely heavy rain advisory for Pingtung County, and heavy rain advisories for 11 cities and counties. The rain advisories are in effect from late afternoon through the night on Sunday, according to the CWA’s website.
According to Focus Taiwan, the national weather agency said Pingtung County faces the possibility of “extremely heavy rain,” defined as at least 200 mm in 24 hours or 100 mm in 3 hours.
The “heavy rain” advisory — referring to at least 80 mm in 24 hours or 40 mm in one hour — covers New Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Kaohsiung, and Yilan County.
