Heavy Rain Predicted for Central and Northern Taiwan

Taipei: Monday is forecast to be the wettest day of the coming week, with localized heavy afternoon rain anticipated in parts of central and northern Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced Sunday. According to Focus Taiwan, moisture moving north from the south is expected to bring brief showers or thunderstorms to southern Taiwan and Taitung County in the east, as noted by CWA forecaster Tseng Chao-cheng. Precipitation levels are anticipated to gradually decrease starting Tuesday, though eastern Taiwan may still experience isolated showers. Elsewhere, afternoon thunderstorms are predicted, with localized heavy rain remaining a possibility in mountainous areas of central and northern Taiwan, Tseng indicated. From Wednesday through Sunday, most of Taiwan is likely to witness partly cloudy to sunny skies, with only isolated afternoon thunderstorms in mountainous regions. A tropical disturbance east of Guam is projected to gradually develop near the end of July or early August. Tseng ment ioned that current forecast models suggest it will track toward Japan and is not expected to directly impact Taiwan.
