High Temperatures to Persist in Taiwan Until Mid-October

Taipei: Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA) announced on Sunday that the current hot weather conditions are expected to persist into the coming week. However, a drop in temperature highs by approximately five degrees Celsius is anticipated from October 19, as the northeasterly monsoon intensifies.

According to Focus Taiwan, CWA forecaster Chang Chun-yao mentioned that from Monday through Saturday, high temperatures are likely to reach between 33-35 degrees Celsius in western Taiwan and 31-32 degrees in eastern Taiwan. This weather pattern is attributed to a high-pressure system over the Pacific Ocean. The Greater Taipei area, along with the foothills in central and southern Taiwan, might experience temperatures climbing above 36 degrees Celsius.

Chang further explained that from October 19, temperatures are expected to fall more significantly, with highs ranging from 28-30 degrees and lows between 22-24 degrees in northern and northeastern Taiwan. Other regions can anticipate highs around 30-33 degrees and lows near 25-26 degrees. He also noted that the strength of the monsoon is still uncertain and could potentially increase.
