Huang Hsiao-wen Secures Third Career Gold at World Boxing Championships

Liverpool: Taiwan's Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Huang Hsiao-wen clinched the gold medal at the 2025 World Boxing Championships in the United Kingdom, defeating Yoseline Perez from the United States in the women's 54-kilogram final.

According to Focus Taiwan, Huang achieved a 4-1 victory over Perez across three rounds, with only one out of five judges scoring in favor of the American competitor. The 28-year-old's triumph took place in Liverpool, where more than 540 athletes from 66 national federations were competing. The event was organized by World Boxing, a new international body for Olympic-style amateur boxing, which was established in 2023 and is provisionally recognized by the International Olympic Committee.

Huang's latest victory marks her third career gold in major international amateur boxing events. Her previous gold medals were won in 2019 and 2023 at the International Boxing Association's biennial AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships.
