Japanese Icon Takuya Kimura to Launch Concert Tour Covering Five Asian Cities

Taipei: Iconic Japanese entertainer Takuya Kimura announced on Friday that he will embark on a concert tour later this year covering five Asian cities, featuring performances in Taipei on Nov. 13 and 14. Kimura expressed his anticipation to meet fans, particularly as the Taipei performance coincides with his 54th birthday.

According to Focus Taiwan, Kimura will hold his concerts at the Taipei Music Center, marking his first solo overseas concerts in Taipei during his 35-year career. The Taipei concert organizer, Big Art Co., Ltd., revealed that the tour, titled "Takuya Kimura Live Tour 2026 Checkpoint," will include nine performances across Hyogo, Fukuoka, and Chiba in Japan, Seoul in South Korea, and Taipei in Taiwan, from Sept. 9 to Nov. 23.

Citing Kimura's announcement, Big Art stated that the entertainer, also known for his acclaimed work in television dramas and films, will release a new original album titled "Checkpoint" this summer. This album represents his first work since joining the music label C and C STAGE. The title "Checkpoint" signifies both the tour's theme and a new milestone in Kimura's career.

Kimura expressed hopes that the "Checkpoint" project will allow fans to experience a mutual appreciation between him and his audience. He continues to produce songs to ensure that the concerts offer a memorable experience for attendees.

In his message to fans, Kimura acknowledged the support from overseas admirers and expressed excitement about performing abroad for the first time since beginning his solo career. "I can't wait to meet everyone abroad!" Kimura stated enthusiastically.
