Kaohsiung: Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai stated on Monday that weekend performances by the K-pop group TWICE resulted in over NT$500 million (US$15.89 million) in tourism revenue. The concerts, which took place over two days-Saturday and Sunday-attracted approximately 180,000 fans to the Kaohsiung National Stadium, as confirmed by Chen during a session at the Kaohsiung City Council.
According to Focus Taiwan, the influx of visitors significantly impacted the local economy, with the city's shopping districts, night markets, and hotels experiencing high volumes of activity. Some night market vendors extended their operating hours until 3 or 4 a.m. to accommodate the crowds on both nights.
