Beijing: Kuomintang (KMT) Deputy Chairman Hsiao Hsu-tsen will lead a delegation to Beijing from Monday to Wednesday for a think tank exchange with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The main opposition party has confirmed this development.
According to Focus Taiwan, the delegation will consist of National Policy Foundation Deputy Chairman Lee Hong-yuan and approximately 40 experts and scholars. The National Policy Foundation is a think tank affiliated with the KMT. The exchange is set to focus on areas including tourism, industrial cooperation, and environmental sustainability. Discussions will encompass topics such as travel, flight destinations, precision machinery, artificial intelligence, disaster prevention and mitigation, new energy, and carbon reduction.
A party source has indicated that the delegation is scheduled to attend a dinner with Song Tao, director of China’s Taiwan Affairs Office, on Monday evening. They will participate in a think tank forum on Tuesday and visit Tsinghua University on Wednesday. Whether the delegation will meet with Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, is contingent upon arrangements made by the host.
