Label No. 5 in 3 new products helps reduce electricity bills significantly.

Ministry of Energy-EGAT affixes No. 5 label to 3 new products, upgrading equipment to high-efficiency standards, helping to reduce electricity costs, and joins hands with OBEC to expand the network of green classrooms, aiming to pass on knowledge, understanding and efficient energy use to youth. Mr. Prasert Sinsukprasert, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, together with Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Mr. Phuthon Chantahong Punyajarathamrong, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission, and partner agencies, signed a cooperation agreement for the No. 5 Energy Saving Label Project, along with presenting shields for the Energy Consultant Project and the No. 5 Energy Saving Label Project to promote and push for increased energy efficiency and environmental conservation, reduce carbon dioxide emissions, and aim for clean energy and carbon neutrality, in line with the country's goals. The first project sign ing is the Energy Saving Label No. 5 Project in 2024 between EGAT and entrepreneurs to develop and upgrade equipment to high-efficiency standards, help reduce electricity costs and respond to the country's energy conservation and environmental policies. There are 40 entrepreneurs participating in the product testing project for Energy Saving Label No. 5, 3 products: a clothes dryer for drying clothes completely with heat; a solid-lid freezer, a cabinet that cools frozen objects to a temperature below freezing point. It can generally reach a temperature of -15 degrees Celsius or lower for storing food that needs to be stored for a long time, such as ice cream, meat or frozen ready-to-eat food, etc.; and a solar LED street light, a high-efficiency lighting device that uses solar energy to store energy with a battery for lighting up streets or various places at night. Another project is the Energy and Environmental Conservation Cooperation Project in Educational Institutions (Green Classroom Project) between EG AT and OBEC to expand the cooperation network in transferring knowledge and understanding of energy and environmental conservation, including efficient energy use to students, teachers, and educational personnel of schools, aiming for a Green Learning Society. Currently, there are more than 1,300 schools in the project nationwide. At the event, EGAT presented plaques of appreciation to various agencies that participated in the EGAT project in 2023, such as organizations participating in the energy consultant project, participants in the No. 5 Home and Building Project, participants in the No. 5 School Project, and entrepreneurs who applied the No. 5 energy-saving label in 5 products, namely distribution transformers, solar panels, street lamps, inverters used with solar cell systems connected to the power grid, and multiple fan coil (VRF) air conditioners. EGAT has implemented the electricity usage management or DSM with the 3 A strategy: A. 1: Energy-saving devices No. 5, which currently has 26 products wi th the Energy-saving devices No. 5 label; A. 2: High-energy-efficiency buildings and industries; and A. 3: Habits of using energy efficiently and safely to encourage electricity users nationwide, including government agencies, business sector, industrial sector, education sector, and residential sector, to use electricity efficiently with appropriate and cost-effective measures, resulting in a reduction of electricity usage by more than 38,000 million units, equivalent to a reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by more than 31 million tons.
