Man Arrested Following Altercation on Taipei Metro Train

Taipei: A man was arrested on Friday afternoon after he allegedly bit a passenger's arm on a Taipei Metro train following a heated altercation.

According to Focus Taiwan, the Da'an police precinct reported that the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on the Taipei Metro's Bannan Line. A 30-year-old individual, identified by his last name Lu, engaged in a verbal and physical confrontation with another passenger after allegedly being pushed on the crowded train.

A man surnamed Wang, who witnessed the altercation, attempted to intervene and break up the fight. However, he was allegedly bitten by Lu during the process, as per the preliminary investigation conducted by the police.

Authorities stated that Lu boarded the train at Taipei Main Station and was subsequently arrested at Zhongxiao-Xinsheng Station after the incident was reported. Although Wang decided not to press charges against Lu, the case has been forwarded to prosecutors. The suspect is under investigation for a potential violation of the Social Order Maintenance Act.
