Opening a career as a ridge repairer, guaranteeing that no matter how heavy the job is, they can handle it, earning 500-1,000 baht per day. Mr. Wiwat Naree or Bass, 44 years old, a villager of Sakud, Village 14, Tambon Muang Wan, Amphoe Nam Phong, Khon Kaen Province, was hired by villagers who grow rice in Nam Phong District to repair the ridges almost every day, to the point that they have to book appointments on a weekly basis, especially during this period when Khon Kaen Province is experiencing continuous rain, to the point that he has been nicknamed by his employer as 'the ridge repairer.' Mr. Wiwat said that before this, he was hired to drive a trailer in the central region for more than 20 years until his father fell ill and passed away. He then returned to his home in Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province, to take care of his mother and continue his father's rice farming. In the early years, he admitted that he did not know how to farm, so he took a job cutting grass for villagers because he did n ot know how to start making money. After cutting grass for a while, a villager hired him to help repair the embankment. At that time, he did it without any knowledge, so he tried and made mistakes until he got the idea from building a house that if there was something like fibers to reinforce it, such as pouring a concrete floor with wire mesh to reinforce it, it would help make the embankment repair stronger. Or called 'grouting', it would seal the leaks well. Repairing the bund is not difficult, but it is not easy either. It requires patience and composure because some of the damaged areas are deep. In addition to taking up to half a day to repair, it also requires physical strength to dig the soil. Source: Thai News Agency
