National Taiwan University Ranked 140th in World Rankings


Taipei: National Taiwan University (NTU) has achieved a rank of 140th in the World University Rankings 2026, as reported by The Times Higher Education (THE). This ranking includes 2,191 institutions from 115 countries and territories.



According to Focus Taiwan, NTU’s overall score was 62.5, marking an improvement of 32 places from the previous year. This advancement has allowed NTU to re-enter the top 150 rankings after having dropped out in 2023. Among Taiwan’s universities, China Medical University follows NTU, ranking between 301-305, with Asia University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, National Tsing Hua University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), and Taipei Medical University all positioned between 401-500.



In the industry subcategory, which measures a university’s capacity to collaborate with industry on innovations and inventions, both NTU and NYCU achieved perfect scores of 100. Globally, the University of Oxford maintained its number one position for the tenth consecutive year. It is followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with Princeton University and the University of Cambridge tied at third place. Harvard University and Stanford University share the fifth position. The top 10 is completed by the California Institute of Technology, Imperial College London, University of California, Berkeley, and Yale University.
