New police chief to be appointed in October

Decided to appoint new national police chief in October, revealing the names of 3 big police officers as candidates for the new national police chief position. Pol. Gen. Winai Thongsong, a senior member of the Royal Thai Police Commission, revealed the progress of the appointment of the new national police chief, which has been delayed. According to the rules of the National Police Commission regarding appointments, they will come into effect on October 2. Therefore, the appointment must take effect from then on. At present, the Prime Minister has not yet set a date for the National Police Commission meeting to consider the appointment of the national police chief, but it is expected that the meeting will take place after October 2, and the new national police chief will be appointed within this October. At present, there are 3 candidates: Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, deputy national police chief; Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong, deputy national police chief; and Pol. Gen. Kraibhun Truadsong, inspector-general of t he Royal Thai Police. They must submit information on their past work performance to the Prime Minister for consideration before the meeting of the National Police Commission to appoint the national police chief. The Prime Minister will propose the names in the meeting for the National Police Commission to approve. This appointment consideration must be based on criteria, seniority, and knowledge and skills in investigation and suppression, in accordance with the Police Officer Act. As for the meeting of the National Police Commission proposing the appointment of a Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police to be an additional candidate for Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, there is currently none.
