Chiayi: The body of a newborn baby was found in a feed sack outside a home in Chiayi County on Saturday, as reported by local police, who are currently searching for the baby’s mother.
According to Focus Taiwan, the body was discovered on Saturday morning when a resident in Lioujiao Township alerted authorities after finding it inside an animal feed sack near their family residence. Following an examination by prosecutors, it was revealed that the infant’s body bore no visible signs of external injury and appeared to be full-term. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death and whether the infant was born alive or was stillborn.
A special team has been formed by the police to locate the mother of the infant. The main suspect in the case is an Indonesian woman who was employed as a caregiver by the family of the individual who discovered the body. The person informed the police that their mother believed the caregiver appeared to be pregnant and noted her absence since earlier on Saturday.
Neighbors, however, reported to the police that the caregiver, described as a petite woman, did not exhibit obvious signs of pregnancy. Witnesses last observed her around 8 a.m., leaving her employer’s home in a car, and she has not been seen since, according to the neighbors.
