Parliament, "Mongkol Surassajja" sits as President of the Senate as expected with 159 votes from all 200 members. Reporters reported that the Senate meeting voted to elect Mr. Mongkol Surasajja to the position of Senate President with 159 votes from all 200 members. This is considered an overwhelming number of votes, as the challenger, Mrs. Nantana Nanthawaropas, received 19 votes and Dr. Premsak Piayura received 13 votes, while there were 4 senators who abstained and 5 spoiled ballots. For Mr. Mongkol, he is a Senator of the Administrative and Security Group who used to hold the position of District Chief of several districts, including being the Deputy Governor of Buriram and Sisaket Provinces before becoming the Governor of Buriram Province, Director-General of the Community Development Department, and Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration.
