Taipei:Two receipts worth NT$10 each, representing a milk tea purchase and an Uber processing fee, were among the 17 receipts that claimed the NT$10 million special prize in Taiwan's July-August uniform invoice lottery, as announced by the Ministry of Finance.
According to Focus Taiwan, Lou Mei-chung, the director-general of the ministry's Taxation Administration, revealed at a press briefing that after excluding non-qualifying receipts, 17 receipts matched the winning number 89996565, securing the NT$10 million special prize.
Among these winners, seven receipts were for purchases under NT$50. The lowest-value winning receipts were a NT$10 Uber processing fee and a NT$10 milk tea from a FamilyMart in Tainan's Yanshui District. Other notable winners included a NT$27 printing receipt from a 7-Eleven in Taipei, a NT$29 food purchase from a 7-Eleven in Taoyuan, and a NT$33 food purchase from a 7-Eleven in Kaohsiung. Additional winners comprised a NT$37 sports drink from a Simple Mart in New Taipei and a NT$45 black tea from a Kebuke outlet in Taipei.
The highest-value winning purchase was a NT$24,000 wallet from the Loewe counter in Breeze Nanshan, Taipei.
Lou also mentioned that 11 receipts matched the number 91098182 for the NT$2 million grand prize. She reminded winners that they can claim prizes between October 6 and January 5 of the following year.
The Ministry noted that 107 electronic invoice users won one of the four major prizes, which include the NT$10 million special prize, NT$2 million grand prize, NT$200,000 first prize, or the cloud invoice-exclusive NT$1 million prize, with total winnings amounting to NT$220.2 million. Lou highlighted that individuals storing their electronic invoices in the cloud can use the ministry's app to set up automatic prize payments.
The uniform invoice lottery is conducted every two months to encourage consumers to request receipts and support efforts to reduce tax evasion.
