Partly Sunny Weather with Localized Rain and Heat Alerts in Taiwan

Taipei: Much of Taiwan will experience partly sunny weather, although some localized rain is anticipated throughout the day due to the ongoing effects of easterly winds, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). The agency has indicated that these easterly winds will result in brief and localized rains in mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, Yilan County, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Taiwan’s northern coast.

According to Focus Taiwan, the CWA has forecasted afternoon thundershowers for Kaohsiung, Pingtung County, and mountainous areas across Taiwan. Despite these weather events, other parts of the island are expected to remain mostly sunny, with temperatures reaching 33-35 degrees Celsius in the east and 31-32 degrees in the west.

The weather agency issued red heat alerts for parts of New Taipei and Taoyuan, signaling that temperatures could exceed 38 degrees Celsius for three or more consecutive days in these regions. Tainan has been placed under an orange alert, indicating highs of 36 degrees or above for at least three days. In contrast, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Pingtung counties have been given yellow alerts, with daily maximum temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees.

Amidst the ongoing heat, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong stated that the first wave of northeasterly winds, accompanied by cooler air, is anticipated to arrive on Saturday evening. Wu mentioned that these seasonal winds will bring cooler temperatures and increased precipitation to the Greater Taipei area and the eastern half of Taiwan.

The seasonal winds are expected to bring rain to all areas in Taiwan from Sunday to next Wednesday. However, Wu noted that the effects of cooler temperatures will not be severe, with an approximate drop of only 3 degrees around the island. Northern Taiwan might experience a more significant temperature difference due to the current high temperatures combined with the expected rainy weather patterns.
