Rain Forecast Across Much of Taiwan Sunday

Taipei: A weather system moving northward across Taiwan will bring rain and a chance of thundershowers to much of the country on Sunday, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA). As this system progresses, southern Taiwan and the Hualien-Taitung region in the east are expected to experience occasional rain showers throughout the day, with localized heavy rain or storms.

According to Focus Taiwan, other parts of the country can anticipate mostly cloudy skies with afternoon thundershowers, particularly intense in areas north of Taichung. High temperatures on Sunday are predicted to range between 31 to 34 degrees Celsius nationwide. CWA forecaster Lee Ming-hsiang mentioned that Tropical Storm Tapah, which formed late Saturday in the South China Sea west of the Philippines, is not expected to directly affect Taiwan.

Meanwhile, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong forecasted cloudier and slightly cooler weather with a chance of afternoon storms in the first half of next week. From Thursday through
Saturday, sunny, hot, and drier conditions are expected to prevail as a high-pressure system moves over Taiwan, Wu stated, citing European forecasting models.
