Rain forecast for northern, northeastern Taiwan

Northeasterly winds will bring moisture to northern and northeastern Taiwan during the weekend while other parts of the island will see sunny to cloudy weather, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB).

Sporadic rain is forecast for the Greater Taipei Area this weekend, with temperatures reaching 25-26 degrees Celsius in the daytime but dipping to 19-20 degrees in the evening, the CWB said.

From Monday to Thursday, northern Taiwan will be mostly cloudy with possible sporadic rainfall and temperatures remaining between 21-25 degrees, the CWB said.

Intermittent rain is set to continue in northeastern Taiwan from Saturday through Thursday, with temperatures in this region forecast to range between 19-24 degrees, the CWB said.

At the same time, the weather pattern in central and southern Taiwan, where the seasonal winds will be weaker, will remain sunny to cloudy, the CWB said.

Daytime highs will reach 30-31 degrees in these regions, but temperatures are expected to drop significantly to 18-21 degrees in the evening, the CWB said.

Starting from Saturday, strong winds are forecast for areas between Taoyuan and Tainan, southeastern Taiwan, and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, as well as the outlying Penghu and Kinmen islands, according to the CWB.
